Angelica archangelica, commonly known as garden angelica, wild celery, and Norwegian angelica, is a biennial plant from the family Apiaceae, a subspecies of which is cultivated for its sweetly scented edible stems and roots.
People use Angelica archangelica for indigestion, quitting smoking, excessive urination at night, decline in memory and thinking skills, rheumatoid arthritis (RA), and many other conditions, but there is no good scientific evidence to support these uses.
As the seed requires light to germinate, surface sow - either directly onto a well-prepared bed in late spring or early summer, or onto compost-filled modules in late summer or autumn.
